Let’s Engineer a PLAN Together!
Broad-Based Financial Planning
Typical age group: 25-55
If you are early to mid-career, a broad-based financial plan may be a good fit for you. It all starts with where you’re at currently and where you want to be in the future. We create a “Financial GPS” to guide you along the path to meet your goals.
In a broad-based financial plan, we emphasize goal setting, saving, insurance protection, investing, college planning, retirement accumulation projections, and estate planning for this age group. For most clients, the fee-only one-time financial plan is the most cost-effective approach to understand your current situation and have a written plan to meet your goals. We advise you on the types of financial products available and guide you to a set of low-cost products specific to your situation and your risk tolerance level. A broad-based plan is priced as a one-time project.
Our written broad-based personal financial plan includes the following components:
- Cash Flow Analysis
- Goal Planning
- Education Planning, if necessary
- Risk Management Analysis (Insurance)
- Investment Strategy and Portfolio Design
- Retirement Projections
- A review of your estate planning documents
As you progress on your financial journey, there may be bumps in the road as life happens. We can help you throughout the journey with our On-going Financial Planning offering by providing you with professional advice on important financial decisions and adjusting your financial plan as necessary. On-going Financial Plans are billed quarterly.
If you are not ready or don’t need a full financial plan, we can then use our Basic Hourly service to customize a specific analysis for you.
“Special Needs” Financial Planning
Typical age group: 20+
Whatever age or stage of life you’re in, planning is a game changer. It sheds light on the path ahead and empowers you to make informed decisions. Special Needs Planning starts with the parents’ financial planning as a foundation and integrates a child’s lifelong needs, identified in the planning process, with available resources and support. One without the other is a recipe for unfulfilled potential.
Identifying and closing financial gaps through planning and blended resources can make all the difference for families. Medical and therapy needs, educational needs, transition needs, vocational supports, future housing, care costs and funding a Special Needs Trust shouldn’t be keeping you up at night. A Special Needs Plan helps to provide both peace of mind and a roadmap for prioritizing immediate and future needs.
A fiduciary fee-only Financial Planner specializing in Special Needs Planning can guide your family to successfully navigating each stage of your child’s future without conflicts of interest. You and your family’s best interests are at the forefront of planning today, tomorrow and throughout your child’s lifetime.
Special Needs Planning Services:
- Holistic fee-only Planning, integrating family needs
- Limited Scope Consultations regarding:
- Review / Update Existing Planning
- Identification of expected lifetime needs and costs
- Funding Strategies for current or future needs
- Estate Planning Review
- Financial Advocacy: Problem Solving or Appeals (healthcare, government benefits or education related)
Fee-only Retirement Planning
Typical age group: 55+
Retirement planning is complex and is very different if you are in the wealth decumulation phase of retirement. Your retirement nest egg needs to last for a 30-year retirement and account for an array of expenses such as medical and long-term care. We run several retirement scenarios using a Monte Carlo simulator and other stress tests to determine the best probability of success.
Additionally, we look at income planning to analyze the best income strategy to meet your monthly expenses. This includes Social Security optimization, Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), and other income factors.
Effective tax planning can save you hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of your retirement. Our goal is to maximize your tax-free accounts at end-of-plan. Included in our Retirement Planning service is:
- A review of your employer plan
- Current investment allocations and projections
- Risk Tolerance assessment
- Income planning
- Social Security claiming strategy
- Tax-efficient withdrawal strategies
- Roth Conversion strategy
- Maximizing your tax-free accounts
- Overall probability of success estimates
- A review of your estate planning documents

Basic Hourly Financial Planning
In some cases, your planning requirements may not fit into our defined categories. If this is your situation, we can customize a plan around your needs. For example, some young families may want to pursue holistic financial planning, but in small chunks at a time to spread out the costs. We can do that!
The same applies for retirement planning. If you would like to tackle your retirement plan in smaller chunks, we will work with you to determine what is your most pressing need and customize a planning approach for you. Hourly financial planning services can also be used for:
- Yearly plan updates
- Second opinion – for clients with existing plans or investments held elsewhere
- Investment/Portfolio Design for do-it-yourself clients
- Other custom-designed limited-scope engagements
The final documentation will be provided in a high-quality binder that can be used for years to come. In addition to your financial plan, you can store other pertinent financial and legal documents so that you have everything in one place and stored in the privacy of your home.
Additionally, an electronic version will also be delivered to you via your secure Egnyte electronic file folder. All your documents may remain there for your convenient future access.
