Getting Started – Understanding Your Financial Goals!
To get the process started we need to learn about you personally and professionally. You, your family, your financial goals and aspirations are very important to us and to the financial planning process. We can’t create a roadmap for you if we don’t know who you are, where you’re at, and where you’re going!
This is also your chance to interview us, to understand our business values and financial planning philosophy and approach. We are unique and we want you to get to know us and understand the value that we can bring over the course of your lifetime.
We’re talking about lifetime changes for you and your family. With a written plan you are much more likely to meet your financial goals than without one.
So we put a lot of emphasis on the Discovery Phase, in getting to know you. We have several ways we can do that. For those that are in the local community we can meet one-on-one. For those that are a good distance away, we can set up a teleconference. We also have our online questionnaire that can help jumpstart the Discovery Phase process.
To get started, a 15-20 minute phone call can determine if we have the right mix of skills to meet your needs. Then we can move on to our first full meeting. We ask that you plan for this meeting to be a good 2 hours. If you are married, we ask that you and your spouse both attend. We’ll have a relaxing discussion about your values, life goals, expectations, etc. We’ll also give you much more information about what we can do for you in your specific situation.
At the end of the Discovery Phase, we both can determine if there is a good match for doing business. If so, we will create a detailed proposal outlining the contents of the financial plan you can expect for your specific situation and financial goals. We will include the fixed price cost of developing your customized financial plan. There will be NO hidden fees, commissions, or specific products that we will recommend. That is the benefit of working with a fiduciary, we will put your best interest before our own.
After the Discovery Phase is complete, and your approval of the contract, we are ready to do some serious financial planning! The information we accumulated in this Discovery Phase is critical to the remaining steps of cash flow, insurance, investments, retirement, education, estate and tax planning.
